Having the Olympic torch come to Leicester would be a real privilege for the city, and would allow us to begin our Olympic celebrations in a very special way. As a city I know we will celebrate 2012 in many ways; sporting, culturally, educationally and in all our communities. 2012 won’t just be a once in a lifetime event for London, it will be a once in a lifetime experience for the citizens of Leicester.”
